Hi sirs!
When you go to put in your web site VMG sails pictures in action?
In another hand, in one of the forum questions about the slalom board, Is a good combo for me what Koen suggest if I weight 80 ks, TB65 board 6.0 and 7.5 for pure slalom?
Thanks and regards
Pupo

Yes, show us some pictures of the new VMG. Not only in action, but also some details.
I saw that the VMG2004 has a different aspect ratio then 2003, does it also have a wider sleeve?
Maybe you have seen the Severne prototypes with variable wide sleeves similar to the NP RS4. What is your opinion on this wide sleeves? Are you also working on something similar?

Hi Robin:
We will try and get more action shots of the VMG 2004 shortly. The first production team sails will be coming in next week. The sleeve on the production sail is slightly wider down low than the 2003 model. It is also lower aspect ratio than the 2003 model. There have been many shape and batten changes as well.
We explored the possibility of producing a wide sleeve race sail for 2004. I took a 2004 prototype sail and put a wide sleeve on it. This sail proved to be no faster than the narrower sleeve version and had too many drawbacks to put into production. I do not think the wider sleeve sail offers much improvement in aerodynamic efficiency as the flow on a windsurfing sail over chop is pretty disturbed. I think the biggest gain of the wide sleeve may be increased stability due to the sleeve attaching at a further point back in the sail and locking that shape in better. If the wider sleeve sails do not prove to be faster they will also have no resale value as recreational sailors will not want to touch them. We will test some more wide sleeve sails later on as one prototype is not conclusive testing. Sometimes I think if Neil Pryde came out with purple sails and said they were faster, you would see 3 or 4 other companies unveil their new fast purple model.
For the 2004 model VMG we have gone to a 100% grid sail that is lighter than other companies all monofilm models. This is a race sail that will last for years instead of months. It will also prove to have resale value due to its durable construction and friendly nature. This is important in case we come out with our purple race sails next year.

I like your answer Steve,
Steve, what do you mean with Friendly nature?

Hi Greg:
What I mean by friendly nature is that the sail has a narrow luff sleeve so it will not get real heavy if you drop it and it fills with water. Also by being all grid it has a softer hand so it will not wrinkle as easy while rigging and derigging. Keep in mind that it is still a full on race sail so rotation is some what stiff and it is also designed for sailing wound up.

Here here. Steve, I heartily applaud these design parameters.
