What sail and board would be good for say the SE coast or Gulf? I want to maximize my TOW. I weigh 78 kgs and am 165cm tall. Been sailing flat water for years and need a change of scenary. More of a challange. I have an old Bic Veloce 278 and a tired 6.5 Pro-Race. My budget is limited to two sails and one board. Please help.

You would have a hard time finding a better all around board than a *Board Carve. Volume dependent on sail size & force of wind, but the 111 would be a really good all around board for your size. Maybe the 133 if you want a lot of float.

Hi Realist,

I have sailed the Carve 111 from 2002 and prior. It's a great all arounder. Try the Exocet Compact Move 100 if you wish to scrap the Veloce. By the way, what size is it? If you wish to keep using it, I would recommend the Exocet Original Wave 85 or 95.

As far as sails: 6.6 and 5.5 Charge. If the wind really nukes beyond the 5.5, rarely, then let's talk.

Hey
Your Veloce is easy riding, smooth, super floaty, and can handle from 5 meters to 7 meters.
So get the prescribed Aerotech sails for it, saving money from NOT buying a new board.
Remember that ocean sailing requires stronger masts, that don't break.
When it comes time for wavesailing, then a much smaller board is in order, but you would still need sails from 5-7 meters for your area.
I always try to buy new sails, but use older boards.

A friend let me try the Original Wave 95 and a 6.2 Charge. You guys were right. What a great rig and board. Who deals in Aerotech and Exocet in Charleston to Savannah?

The closest dealer to that market would be allwetsports.org
