Hi Steve,

when cleaning out my garage, I found an almost new VMG 5,5 from 2000 (the ones with the special top). I had forgotten that I had this one. I replaced already the pivotting top by normal batten, but:

When comparing absolute speed, are the profiles used in 2000 VMG 5,5 as fast as the profiles used in the 2004 5,4 ?

Another problem: I would like to have a smaller sail (5,0) for speedtrials. Is it easy to recut the 5.5 to make it smaller and faster? Maybe by only changing the leech-outline + new battens?
Or is this a wast of time?

Hi Koen:

I would not recut the 5.5 to make it smaller. It would be a lot of work. To remove and replace leech reinforcing and trim down batten pockets would take around 3 hours. The 2004 VMG will have more range and stability then the 2000 model.Top speed should be a little better as well.

Best Regards:
Steve
