Wave sailing right foot first is opposite of how I surf. Sometimes I wash or spinout the bottom turn. Maybe I'm doing it too early? Too hard? Never seem to have this problem when the wind is coming from the south here on the east coast.

Also, a friend of mine intends to start the chop hop. Pretty basic skill, I know, but your words are often better. Can you share them?

Hope you get some wind soon.

Hi
Not Jason here, just a goof surfer who rides rights mainly when windsurfing.......
First of all, wavesailing a wave is NOT like surfing a wave, as you use a bigger board, heavier, have mast attached, and also are locked into front footstraps. You have to learn and experience riding the waves you have, in whatever position the winds make you, to get good.
Robby surfs goof, so does Mike Waltze and Jason Polakow. They ride rights OK, frontside.
Your timing is obviously off on one side, so you should just ride more, and try to mimic your good side........first at home, then in the waves.
Conditions on N winds are probably very different than S winds, and chop could be different, waves steeper, or mushier.

Hi Chuck,

It sounds like you may be standing up as you begin to roll into your entry. Avoid standing up by doing "the limbo" I wrote about in the jibe post. By standing up for just a second you're not giving the board enough of a shock absorber and forcing the spin out. If the problem persists, then you just need more time on that tack to get used to the different wind angles to the waves like the above post mentioned.

Jumping tips for your buddy: if you know you're going to get big air off of a jump. Don't look down (while in the air) to see how high you are. That's what other sailors are for and it will avoid submarine dive landings. Always look up!! Jump with your front hand and front foot allowing the rest of your body to follow on the way up. And "time on the water" means jumping at least once a run. Go BIG because the longer you're in the air, the more time you'll have to think about the landing. Tail first is always the safest landing for you and your gear.

my disclaimer: jumping can break everything, including body parts,

Thank you for those tips, Jason and all. I guess I'll have to wait for the next sideshore day to try bending my knees more. I suppose I've been doing that naturally with my left foot forward on south sideshore days.
