I fear, here in New York the latter was the most appropriate during this past blizzard. The wind was easily 40-50 at times. It was very frustrating to see it out my window. Oh well, time for snow boards.

At what temperature is it no longer safe to sail with any suit?

Christmas week, '89, I surfed for 1/2hour, then sailed for 1/2hour, at Long Island. Air temps were 17-25, water temps 44, and I had no booties.
Just borrowed a 4/3 from the guys who ran the windsurf shop at Northpoint (??, is that the right town) and used their gear. I ran my mouth about California surfing and windsurfing so had to prove my worth. Was cold changing in their van because it was snowing lightly, winds cross offshore, about 20mph.
