The all carbon ones for freeracing and racing, are they built differently now? I heard some talk on the beach about them. What do you know, Steve, Koen, Armand?

Hi Chuck:
The Select fins have been holding up very well. We did have some outer delamination occur on a few of the Super Fast models. The only time I saw this was with bigger riders who sail really wound up. For 2004 the pre-preg is 20% stronger so durability should be even better. One of the biggest pluses of the Exocet and AHD boards is that they come with these Select fins so purchasing the same sized after market fin is not necessary.

I'm 91kg and had no problems with the "regular" carbon construction. I own 3 select fins in this construction, a 38/35/29.
My FW (70cm) fin's are made in the elite technologie.
This is the first time I hear about delamination on select fin's.
Offcourse , a malfunction can always happen, but I do know that select is one of the worldleaders in composite technologie.
And they have an excellent warranty policy, no problems there

Ive just bought a Superfoil 50 for a Carve123 (Tuttle Box). It was tighter than my other fins to fit and when its in the base sticks out abut 1.5mm. Should i just sand it back untill it is flush, send it back, or wont it matter when im sailing.
Thanx

the best is to grind a little the front and rear, angled surface and go for the perfect fit.
In general, you need to grind almost all fin's a little since often their are small tolerances in the tuttle box dimensions. I have often seen at boards from cobra even some resin that had run into the box and influencing the fin fitting.
On the select fin's box, you see also a little bur edge (splitline)
If you put the fin in the first time and really tighten it hard, this will deform upto the level where you have the perfect fit, but this might require high torking forces, in most cases, just take this little edge of and it will be ok,
