Sandbagging board/sail combo's

Howcomeisit board marketing folk always under estimate the size sails for boards? Do we as a population need to be patronized this much? Any thoughts?

I'm a little guy, 155lbs.
I think the board manufacturers are doing us a favor by limiting the range of sail sizing per each board! Sure, we could expand any uphaulable board to include 2.9 sails in 50 mph days and 9 meter sails when it's blowing 11mph, but how efficient are we with those sizings. Both ends of the spectrum are "do-able"...certainly not fun, not ideal, and not smart.
Remember, those are just "guidelines". You can choose to embrace them or forget them, at least the unknowing windsurfers have some parameters to work with.
"YOU', meaning a windsurfer who is experienced, good at windsurfing, and willing to take the blame for his/her mischoices.
