Any idea when the new SPeed SLider XL 89 will be available? I am looking for an all around board and was considering a Formula board, this seems better for cruising and learning.

Hi DBL:

The Speed Slider 89 should be available in April, the 79 and 69 models are in stock now. For non formula racers this board should be the ticket. It will not need as big of a fin and should be more forgiving than a full on formula board.

Been using the SS 69 for 7.0 to 8.5 sailing conditions lately. The board does lots of what I like. Planes early, turns fast, and feels comfortable at speeds that turn out to be way faster than I think. What more could you ask for in a board?

Used it several times in the ocean in nasty onshore junk. I can really drive it up or down wind to avoid square, pitching waves when going out through the surf. Good fun.

Yesterday, I sailed it with a 6.8 Phantom at nearly sunrise at Ft Lauderdale Beach. Wind was 14-18 knots and ugly onshore. Great sesh.

What are the main differences in performance between 2004 and 2003 SpeedSliders? I am looking for a 120 ltr board right now. I've liked other Exocets that I've tried. Could someone help me?

Hi Phil:

The Speed Slider 67 from 2003 feels a bit smaller than the 2004 Speed Slider 69. The new board is slightly wider and thicker with a shorter 255cm length. Top end speed is very similar while the lighter wind performance of the 69 is superior. The new board also has the addition of the shock absorbers under the pads which gives it a a very smooth ride. The 69 is also available in a slightly heavier, less expensive Next version as well.

Thought the 2003 SpeedSliders had the shock absorbers as well?

Regarding the '03 67, have any of you purchased a larger fin for sailing with 7.5-8.0 sails? Any recommendations?

Hi Charles:

The 2003 SS 67 do have the shock absorbers but they are a lot different from the dual density model that are in the 2004 models. The new ones are softer and absorb more of the chop.
