The sail designed in the USA is optically
pleasing; this is highlighted in the upper area using extremely light
looking Xply material which is Cuben Fiber. When rigging one should thread
Cambers immediately as additional threading is not possible on account
of the narrow mast pocket. The Camber’s
provide for a very deep profile which reaches a long way up. The equipment
details, like top strengthening, shy protection at the batten ends and
overall look rather respectable.
The Aerotech RapidFire on the water is very fast and absolutely does
justice to the claims to a modern sail design. With the planning, speed
and handling, the sail presents itself no less in comparison to the famous
competitors and goes everywhere in the top group. In the comparison the
sails profile cushions gusts pleasantly and converts this immediately
into drive. The batten rotation while sail shifting proceeds easily,
therefore the sail can sort itself also with the Handling with the rather
light 8.5ern North or Sailloft. The a little softer profile always works
a little, who is used to very direct or stiff profiles as for example
Neilpryde or North, the sail could find a little bit too indirect. One
must not fear controlling or pressure point problems, however, also with
the Aerotech.
The RapidFire turns out as a full alternative to the established brands
and can keep up in the efficiency comparison as well as with the handling.
It is very difficult to find a better alternative.
